Located on the north coast of the island of S. Miguel, on the seafront, Casa das Calhetas is a 17th century building. XVIII (1723). Sunny in appearance, it has always been a morgue's house. The views to the North-Northeast offer an impressive setting over the Atlantic, the North coast of the island and the Serra da Lagoa de Fogo. The views to the Southwest open up a completely different scenario over the only cloistered convent in the Azores and the house's magnificent century-old garden. Decorated simply, it retains the flavor of the wealthy houses of rural Azoreans.
